Timeless and minimalist design
In this week’s Brand Week, we are having a look at the
Danish brand MENU
, who have been representing timeless and minimalist design since 1978. The popular brand works with furniture, accessories and lighting. This means they have an almost endless universe of contemporary and modern products.
MENU strives to make the world better, less complicated and nicer to wake up to. And it’s fair to say that MENU has developed a clear design language that will truly make your home nicer to wake up to.
MENU likes brass, brushed steel and bronze. They often spice up their lamp designs with materials like marble or concrete, creating some interesting and decadent designs.
MENU JWDA Floor
A good example of this and a very popular lamp from MENU is the
floor lamp JWDA
. It might remind you of the
Tom Dixon Opal Cone
, with the round shade of white glass, balancing on the pole. MENU’s lamp might be a little more refined and easier to integrate in a Scandinavian home.
The base of the lamp is made from marble, giving it a classical feel and a more decadent design. The dimmer is placed at the base as well, so it does play a big part in the design.
The lamp is available in two different versions, with different materials, but the same, elegant style. The base is available in either white marble or Travertin marble, for a more classical look. The pole on this lamp is made from brushed brass and the pole on the white base is darkened brass.
This lamp is a very good example of what MENU is all about and it is a secure choice for the modern home. The lamp is useful in most rooms, like the hall or the living room.
Harrison Chandelier
The brass-style continues in the
Harrison Chandelier pendant
, a fun and different pendant from MENU. The pendant consists of hanging arms that pan out to hold 5 bulbs at the ends.
You can choose to use the popular LED bulbs, imitating old incandescent bulbs or you can choose MENU’s own Globe bulb – a white and matte bulb. This will change the character of the lamp and giving it the classic MENU look.
Pendants on a row
MENU also makes pendants on a row, making it easy to get lots of light over the dining or kitchen table. The popular trend of hanging several pendants over a table has come to stay and MENU’s Rail pendants makes it easier to get this look. We recommend choosing the
TR Rail pendant
or, if you like the understated look, the
Hubert Rail pendant
.
MENU Carrie LED
Lastly, we’ll have a look at one of the latest designs from MENU that follows a new trend in designer lighting. Like many other brands, MENU has created a rechargeable and highly portable lamp.
MENU Carrie LED
is a beautiful and functional lamp, serving many purposes. The lamp consists of a matte, white bulb with an integrated LED. The lamp charges via USB and after about 5 hours of charging, the light will last you 8-10 hours. The lamp is light and has a built-in handle, making it perfect for transportation.
A lamp like this can be useful for light on the terrace or balcony, or whenever you’re on the go. The lamp comes in several colors and has 3 brightness levels. This also makes it suitable as a night lamp, for the little ones.
On the Carrie-lamp you get incredible design and functionality at a very low price and of course, the lamp fits perfectly with the MENU lamps above.
