Piet Hein got the idea for the Chariot in 1944 while he was living in Argentina and longing for the northern starry sky. He began experimenting with transferring the constellation to a seven-armed candlestick that could spread light anywhere on the globe. The candlestick, made of stainless steel, measures 63 cm in height and has space for seven candles, which can be placed either in a line or in a circle.
