The SEN the table lamp is a unique and modern work of lighting art that builds on tradition while simultaneously innovating Japanese craftsmanship. The lamp is also available as a pendant.
Sen means "lines" in Japanese, and the many bamboo strips that are shaped into the lamp create both lines and shadows that give a vivid and poetic expression. The craft is based on the traditional takesensuji technique, originally used for insect cages and paper lanterns, but here continued in a modern idiom and function.
The lamp is carefully handcrafted in Japan by artist Tani Toshiyuki in collaboration with experienced bamboo masters and consists of approximately 600 bamboo strips.
